Miramar College Fire Technology

The Mission of San Diego Miramar College Fire Technology and Emergency Medical Technician Programs is to provide quality education and training that will prepare students to protect lives, property and the environment. Valuing diversity as one of our greatest strengths, at the heart of our Mission is a commitment to supporting a diverse student population. We recognize the importance of community partnerships and strive to offer innovative educational programs that meet the needs of our fire and emergency medical services personnel. Through continual planning, assessment and reflection we endeavor to afford our students a competitive edge in the workforce.

The EMT student uniform is now required for all FIPT Courses.  Please see information below.


All students in the FIPT Program are required to purchase and wear a uniform (Same uniform as EMT) designating them as a Fire Technology/EMT student.  Firefighters work in a paramilitary organization, team environment in the trust of the public they serve.  Firefighter/EMT Students should take great pride in the career he or she has chosen.  Wearing a uniform adds awareness to other campus students of your career choice and influences the perception of our students in the FIPT/EMT Program. Uniforms identifying Firefighters and Future Firefighters uniforms, are purchased through Fire ETC located at 2190 Main St., San Diego(619) 525-7286. Uniforms are also provided to purchase for students at the beginning of the semester on site.

The same uniform purchased for EMT is appropriate for FIPT Courses.  FIPT /EMT students have the privilege of also wearing a patch designating them as FIPT students.  If you are working as an EMT, Fire Explorer, Reserve Firefighter, Cadet Firefighter or have another affiliation with the fire service requiring a uniform you may elect to wear the uniform worn for these fire service affiliations while a student in the FIPT/EMT Program.

Optional hats are also available for outside activities.  Hats may not be worn inside any buildings including classrooms at anytime.

     The total cost for these items is under : $100.00

Black steel-toed boots are suggested for ride-alongs and required for EMT and fire personnel $85.00 once hired. Black leather boots or black sport shoes are acceptable for classes.  FIPT 150A Students are required to wear blue shorts, work style pants and Miramar FIPT student T-shirts for the manipulative activities.
